Following a recent altercation with Lionel Messi, Monterrey manager Fernando Ortiz has chosen his favorite player of all time.
He still opined that the Argentine is the-greatest footballer of all time.
However, he insisted that there was no disrespect intended when he told the press that they were unconcerned about the Argentines ahead of the second leg of their CONCACAF Champions Cup game.
Monterrey won the first leg 2-1 at Chase Stadium and followed it up with a 3-1 victory on Wednesday night in Mexico.
Ortiz said he believed in his players, and that-is why he was confident ahead of the game.
He added that the Argentine is still the GOAT for him.
“To me, Leo is the greatest player of all time; I did not intend to offend anyone; I simply expressed an honest opinion. Lionel Messi is the GOAT,” he said, according to Goal.
Messi, who did not play in the first leg due to injury, got into a fight with Ortiz and assistant coach Nico Sanchez following the game.
The confrontation was sparked by Ortiz’s pre-game comments, which suggested biased officiating in Miami’s favor.
Sanchez called Messi a “possessed dwarf, who has the face of the devil,” according to The Mirror.
