Erik ten Hag, Manchester United’s manager, has insisted that he is the right man for the team following Monday night’s 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace.
First-half goals from Michael Olise and Jean-Philippe Mateta gave the hosts a deserved lead by the break.
Palace then extended their lead through Tyrick Mitchell before Olise scored his second goal of the game.
Ten Hag’s side is now eighth in the Premier League table, having won just one of their last seven games.
Speculation will undoubtedly increase over Ten-Hag’s future at Old Trafford, but the Dutchman is adamant that he can improve United’s performances on the pitch.
After the defeat to Palace, Ten Hag was asked if he still believes he is the right person to lead United and replied, “Absolutely.” If the right players are present and available, then we have a good squad.”
He added: “I will keep fighting. I prepared the team as well as I could.
“It was not good enough; I accept responsibility for that, but I will find energy and prepare them for Sunday’s game.”
